Does anyone have a Morphy Richards 47507 ROMA espresso machine?

I bought one of these a while ago, and I have always found the steam wand to be very bad. It heats the milk up to a luke-warm temperature and hardly foams the milk. Is there anyone who shares this experience or did I manage to buy a dodgy one ?

I have the older Roma model. I just has a valve on the front to switch between steam, off and coffee.

The steam wand on mine produces unlimited steam and it will boil the milk if you leave it on long enough

Mine has a rubber sheath that when above the milk causes air to be sucked down and to help foam it

In my experiance, there is a point just before the liquid boils where it has optimum foam, heat it too far it boils and looses it’s foam.

If you warm the liquid slowly it does not work as well. I find cold milk straight from the fridge works best.

The steam add quite a lot of volume to the milk together with the foam.

I heat mine in a stainless steel insulated mug to get it hot quickly from being very cold.

I fill to a little over one third full, (enough so the sheath top can be below the liquid) switch to steam, as it heats it starts to “ring” the sound changes you have to do it to know what I mean. At that point it is getting hot and I will drop the cup a bit and allow some air to get blown in to build the foam.
